Farm Bureaus Put Out Call For Volunteers to Clear Roads

Volunteers are needed to clear roads cluttered by tornado debris.

Volunteers are needed at Dralle and Sheer Roads Tuesday at 9 a.m. The Will County and Cook County Farm Bureaus are coordinating an effort to clean up the area severely damaged by last Sunday's tornado, according to Jim Robbins, a past president of the Will County Farm Bureau.

Volunteers are encouraged to dress warmly, with heavy gloves. Bring buckets, wagons or yard waste style wheel barrows. Lunch will be provided by First Farm Credit.

Some volunteers may be walking through standing corn. Several machine sheds and horse barns were destroyed in the area that is one mile west of Route 45. The storm littered sheet metal and debris across miles of fields.

Bureau manager Mark Schneidewind said they hope to have 60- 70 volunteers. The day is expected to last until 4 or 5 p.m. All are welcome.
