Deck Collapses, 4 injured in Frankfort Square

A deck holding about 15 people collapsed, injuring four people just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday in Frankfort Square. 

Frankfort Fire Protection Dist. Battalion Chief Todd Hamm said the deck collapsed about 10 feet. Four people received minor injuries and were taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox for treatment. 

He added that another 11 people were on the deck at the time of the accident. They refused further assistance. 

The cause of the collapse is under investigation, said Hamm. However, the age of the deck and the weight is likely to have contributed to its collapse.

Mokena Fire Protection District sent an ambulance to assist on the call.
