ReplyUnless you want all for Chicago and nothing for the burbs, you'd had better get out and vote for Peloquin. This is more of a community need vote than a party vote. Also, when did the State of Illinois from the Wisconsin border to Peoria become a suburb of Chicago?

ReplyI can't believe people said they "didn't know about the referendum". It was in all the major newspapers along with all the local newspapers. There were public meetings. What more can the village do? Apathy is going to kill this country.

ReplyEthics in action. Also, why should we pay the state to collect when we are perfectly capable of doing it ourselves. The governments, state and federal, are too involved in our lives as it is.

ReplyI retired from and my children all graduated from Thornton Township High School District 205 schools. Our superintendent at the time, Wm. Augustus, used the same theory as Dr. Wyllie and was quoted as saying "as long as you can see the flagpole, school is in session." Then came 1967. Some students and staff members spent the night in Thornridge. We could still see the flagpole!!

ReplyReplacing Jenny's with another restaurant is a good idea. I hope they have enough backing to ride out the hard times before the restaurant catches on. What we need is a media blitz extolling the great downtown area.

On the article Childhood Obesity: Is Government Intervention Too Extreme?
Pat

ReplyLet the government stay out of this. Let parents raise their children. Parents need to take responsibility for their children in all situations---food, exercise, ethics, behavior. Stop trying to make the school, village, state, federal authorities responsible. Stop being so lazy. It's your house, your money, your responsibility. Stand up and learn to say "NO."

Keep shopping within the village boundaries. Every little bit helps. And keeping the businesses viable stops empty buildings. Let's make Frankfort the place to live and shop.
