Auto Students Provide Free Car Checks for Seniors

The annual car inspection event is coordinated by public safety group Frankfort/Mokena TRIAD.

The automotive classes at Lincoln-Way North High School will offer free safety car checks for senior citizens on Nov. 6. The free car check day is an annual event, hosted by Frankfort/Mokena TRIAD, an organization that unites senior citizens, village police and county police to create a safer community for seniors. Free car check day is one of a few major events the group organizes every year. “We’re really excited about it,” said Frankfort Police Department crime prevention officer Leanne Bender. “It’s just one more way we can help keep seniors safe.” Tuesday’s event provides an opportunity for seniors to get their car inspected before winter. Spots Still Open for Senior Car Safety Check

Students will inspect cars for seniors during this free event Nov. 8 at Lincoln-Way North High School.

Area seniors looking to get their checked out before winter are in luck. The Senior Safety Car Check at Lincoln-Way North High School still has openings available Tuesday, Nov. 8.  This free event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., will have L-W automotive class students inspect cars, making sure their owners know what, if any, work needs to be done on them before colder temperatures hit the region. Along with the inspections, there also will be free refreshments and raffles.
