Winter Storm Could Produce Season's Heaviest Snowfall in Lincoln-Way Area

The forecasted snow expected to hit the Lincoln-Way communities on Thursday evening is anticipated to be the heaviest snowfall this winter, with three-to-six inches of snow accumulation predicted. New Lenox, Mokena and Frankfort can expect to see snow developing after 9 p.m. tonight. Use our handy live weather map to track the storm’s path to the Southland. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory, which makes sense because it’s winter—and February. A winter weather advisory means periods of snow, sleet or freezing ran may produce hazardous road conditions and other traveling difficulties. Weather Update: Frankfort's First Winter Storm

Expect wind, ice and a few inches of snow Thursday evening.

Editor's note: These article has been edited to remove an inaccuracy. At no point was Frankfort under a blizzard warning on the night of Dec. 20. The first winter storm of the season is predicted to hit Frankfort Thursday evening, according to AccuWeather. A winter storm warning is currently in effect until 3 a.m. Dec. 21 and a flood advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Dec. 22. According to AccuWeather: "RAIN WILL CHANGE TO SNOW FROM WEST TO EAST LATE THIS AFTERNOON OR EARLY THIS EVENING...WITH SNOW BECOMING HEAVY AT TIMES.
