WEDNESDAY, DEC. 26 Unknown persons broke into a storage container and stole scrap metal and four aluminum rims between Dec. 16 and Dec. 19 on the 22000 block of S. 80th Avenue in Frankfort. Unknown persons punctured two tires on a work vehicle on the 20000 block of S. Frankfort Square Road in Frankfort. The offenders also poured bleach into the vehicle’s gas tank and poured bleach into a Ford Edge at the same location. FRIDAY, DEC. 28 Security personnel at about 1 a.m. at Lincoln-Way North High School on the 19900 block of S. Harlem Avenue in Frankfort observed a white vehicle crash into the school’s parking lot security gate. Ridings, 32, of the 0-100 block of Old Frankfort Way, was charged with driving with a suspended license and leaving the scene of an accident after an incident in the 19900 block of LaGrange Road. Frankfort Police are warning residents of a phone scam involving a family resident jailed in Mexico. Recently, a senior resident reported receiving a call that his grandson, who was away at college, was in a Mexican jail, according to a police release. The caller, who gave personal details of the grandson, told the resident that he needed wire $200 to a Western Union account in order to get his grandson out of jail, the release stated. Although upset, the resident didn't wire the money and verified the information with his children, the release continued. He alerted police after discovering the call was a scam, the release stated. Vandals damaged two Summit Hill School District 161 schools the last week in June, according to Will County Sheriff's Office reports. Thirteen gallons of silver roofing paint was spilled onto the parking lot and walking path of Frankfort Square Elementary School on Tuesday, June 26, the report stated. The cost of cleaning up for the paint, which costs $250 a gallon, was unknown, said sheriff's spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer.
