The Frankfort gallery hopes to raise enough money to provide art scholarships for two students.
Monkey Mind Art Studio and Gallery in downtown Frankfort is harnessing the power of prayer flags to benefit its exhibits, programs and classes through an ongoing community fundraiser. The Prayer Flag Project invites Frankfort residents to decorate a canvas flag to donate to the gallery. The flags will be raffled off at a reception on Nov. 17. Gallery owner Patty McWilliams said the concept behind the raffle was that everyone would receive the flag they were meant to have. She explained that the project combines the arts and holistic health, both of which are key components of Monkey Mind’s identity. “Once it’s hanging outdoors and, ideally, flapping in the wind, the prayers are being carried,” said McWilliams.
