During a college signing-day ceremony at school on Wednesday, 10 Lincoln-Way North student-athletes announced their plans with friends and family members on hand to share to the excitement.

The list of college majors picked by Lincoln-Way North’s latest recruiting class speaks to how well the Phoenix have prepared themselves to tackle athletic and academic challenges on the next level. A perfect 10? Well, say this much, 10 Lincoln-Way North student-athletes announced their plans during a college signing-day ceremony Wednesday afternoon in the school’s Phoenix Hall. Athletic director Matt Lyke served as emcee for the event. “It’s an opportunity to showcase our kids who have done everything they need to do from an academic standpoint and an athletic standpoint to pursue their dreams to compete at the collegiate level,” Lyke said. “It’s a …

Find out where these teens will be going and what their plans are after they graduate from Lincoln-Way North High School.
For 20 student-athletes at Lincoln-Way North High School, April 18, 2012, will hold a special place in their hearts. As the student-athletes gathered before friends, family and school and district administrators, each formally announced where he or she would be signing a national letter of intent to participate in his or her chosen sport at the college level. Phoenix playmaker Rita Craven hopes to crack the Crusaders' starting lineup as a freshman, plans to study pre-med and work as a physician's assistant.
The theme for the college signing-day ceremony Thursday afternoon at Lincoln-Way North played out like one of the two songs performed by Chelsa King in the 2007 theatrical motion picture, Bratz. “It’s All About Me.” Only Lincoln-Way North’s Rita Craven was “All About Us” as the leader of a Phoenix girls soccer team that posted a 17-7-1 record last spring, won its second straight conference championship and second consecutive regional crown. Craven announced her plans to attend Valparaiso University, posed for photographs with her mother Carla and her coaches at Lincoln-Way North, Mike Murphy and Karen Iliff, and detailed her plans for the future. An honors student (4.167 GPA) who ranks 32nd in a class of 430, she plans to study pre-med at …
