A Message to Lincoln-Way Area Patch Users

Social media misbehavior affecting local kids and schools requires a prudent decision.

Lincoln-Way Patch users, Patch editors are aware of the existence of a social media account through which someone is posting obscene, hurtful, slanderous and humiliating comments about a number of children who attend Lincoln-Way high schools. A few parents and teen-agers have tried to publicize this account on Patch and on our Facebook pages. We believe widening the audience for a social media bully would be irresponsible. Until we are able to gather the facts that allow us to report on the situation in an informative and responsible manner, we choose not to risk further humiliation of the children being targeted. If you would like to share information about this, you may email associate editor Lauren Traut at lauren.traut@patch.com or …

Last month, I went on a trip to France and Spain that was led by Señora Egnatz. While I am very competent in French, I don't speak a lick of Spanish. All of her students were very helpful in the country and they all speak of her very highly. Her students revere her. In my experiences speaking with her, she has always been very kind and is always willing to lend a hand. She deserves this!   more ›

Lincoln-Way East High School ranks among the top high schools in America, according to a ranking of public schools released Tuesday by U.S. News & World Report magazine. LW East — ranked 47th in Illinois and 1,264th in the United States — was the only south suburban high school to place in the magazine's annual report. The rankings rely on a mix of criteria, including teacher-student ratio, test scores and college readiness. U.S. News said it collected data on more than 21,000 public high schools from 49 states and the District of Columbia, excluding Nebraska, which didn't report enough data. It joined forces with the American Institutes for Research, a D.C.-based organization, to evaluate schools on overall student performance on state-…

Alex, how would you know if I excuse my kid's behavior? Why don't you engage your brain & reread my post, you jerk. Who is excusing behavior when you want to look right past the fact that the deans and adults in the school do not do their jobs properly? Whether it's because of inexperience or just laziness, you be the judge, since you seem very experienced at passing judgements. BTW, kids who are…   more ›
