Village Board Talks Housing Growth, Property Transfers and Liquor Licenses

Mayor Jim Holland also reminded residents that Winter on the Green begins on Sunday.

Single-family home construction in Frankfort is on the rise. Frankfort Mayor Jim Holland reported at Monday’s village board meeting that the village received 75 single-family home applications in 2012, a 78 percent increase over the amount received in 2011. The latest numbers indicate significant housing growth in Frankfort compared to recent years. In 2009, the village received 19 applications. “It is encouraging to see this increase,” said Holland. The village board voted on Monday to transfer ownership of Michele Bingham Park to the Frankfort Park District. The six-acre property has been leased to the district for years. The park district requested ownership of the land in order to implement long-term park improvements, such as signage …
