Crain's: Chicagoland Home Sales Are Up, but What About Will County?
Realtors in Frankfort, Mokena and New Lenox said they've been able to stay afloat by being well established and having buyers take advantage of record-low interest rates.
Drive around the streets in New Lenox, Mokena or Frankfort and you might see a higher frequency of signs with the word "SOLD" stamped across them. According to Crain's Chicago Business, single-family home and condo sales have increased for the first time in a year, up 19 percent in July 2011 compared to this time last year for the nine-county Chicago area. Local realtors have seen some recent success, but recognize there's a long way to go before the area reaches the growth it saw earlier last decade. Jim Murphy, of the Murphy Real Estate Group in Frankfort, attributed some of his recent success to being well established in Frankfort for 15 years.
