Frankfort School District 157-C Elects Officers

New officers were elected to serve a term of office.

At the regular Frankfort School District 157-C Board of Education meeting held on May 6, the Board recognized outgoing Board Secretary Jean Stanker. On behalf of the Board, Vice President Patrick Usher acknowledged Jean Stanker for her term of service to the Board. While outgoing Board President Brian Klene was unable to attend, Nancy Neuzil, communications director, said the board passed a resolution of appreciation for both outgoing board members.Member Thomas Hurlburt presented a proclamation to Stanker for her years of service as a member of the District 157-C Board of Education.  The Board elected: Neuzil said Usher will serve as the board's representative for Lincoln-Way Area Special Education District 843, with Mike Turner as …

Background Check Will Soon Be Required to Enter D157-C Buildings

The school board discussed implementing a new check-in procedure, hiring a student resource officer and raising school fees at Monday's meeting.

One month after the school shooting in Newtown, Conn., the Frankfort School District 157-C board of education discussed heightening district security measures at a meeting on Monday. Superintendent Thomas Hurlburt said during his report that the district will be implementing a new visitor check-in system in the coming weeks, earlier than had previously been anticipated. “Given the current events, we’ve decided to accelerate that process,” he said. The new system, which was created by Raptor Technologies, will be introduced to day-to-day district procedures on Jan. 22, according to a press release from the district. Miss Marp~ I so agree. If anyone wants to get in to the school and harm the staff or kids, they won't check in at the office first.....they will shoot thier way in. A panic button is a good idea.   more ›
