South Suburban DUI Arrests, March 17

A Midlothian man charged with DUI says he was sitting in the child seat when the car crashed. A fatal crash kills an Orland Park man and the charges have piled up on the driver. These and more in our weekly roundup of Southland's drunken driving reports.

  TINLEY PARK March 8: Laura A. Kolloway, 22, of the 7800 block of Joliet Drive in Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, driving without insurance, failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash and driving without a license, according to a report. Officers were called at about 1:58 a.m. to a crash involving a parked car near 7719 S. Joliet Dr. Police found Kolloway standing next to her 2006 Honda Civic. She told police she was driving and stuck a parked 1991 Toyota Supra. An officer could smell alcohol on her breath while she was being treated by paramedics, according to the report. Not speaking clearly, saying too much and mentioning your conversation with Santa Claus can give you away. Loose lips sink drivers in this week's Southland's drunken driving reports.

  TINLEY PARK March 2: Michael A. Kuzminski, 20, of the 18000 block of Highland Avenue, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a BAC over .08, speeding and no insurance, following an incident near the intersection of Harlem Avenue and Hickory Street. Police initially stopped Kuzminski after witnessing him driving 57 mph in a 40-mph zone. During the stop, Kuzminski was unable to provide a valid insurance card and admitted to having a few drinks at this girlfriend's house, according to the police report. Officers noted a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from Kuzminski and asked him to perform field sobriety tests, which he failed, according to the report. Kuzminski was …

Rollovers, pond landing and hangups in the median. Tell-tale signs of an arrest in the making this week in the Southland's drunken driving reports.

ORLAND PARK Feb. 5: Police were called about a rollover accident near Corso Drive and Wolf Road around 1 a.m. A witness told police the car was driving north on Wolf Road when it crossed over the southbound lanes and into the adjacent ditch, police said. The car continued across Corso Drive where it then rolled over, ending in the ditch north of Corso, according to the report. Police saw beer cans in the car, smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath and the driver later tested positive for drinking, police said. Samuel Temich-Cocuyo, 27, of the 9000 block of Kennedy Court in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a valid license, driving an uninsured vehicle and improper lane use. South Suburban DUI Arrests, Feb. 24

Cocky driver says he'll 'blow breathlyzer off the table,' and a woman drives across several lawns, taking out mailboxes, utility box and a fire hydrant in her path. This week's roundup of drunken driving arrests in the Southland.

  MOKENA Feb. 8: Taiwo Erinle, 32, of New Lenox, was found passed out at the wheel of his car with the engine running. The car was found at 3:45 a.m. Feb. 8 in the middle of two lanes of traffic on 191st St. at Wolf Road. According to the report, police said Taiwo Erinle's foot was on the brake, but the car was in the drive position. He was passed out at the wheel with the windows rolled up and rap music blaring.  The officer drove the squad about six inches in front of Erinle's car. He placed a push bar between the two bumpers to prevent Erinle's car from moving into traffic unexpectedly.  Police say it took shining a flashlight into the vehicle, pounding on the window and yelling to stir Erinle from his stupor.   FRANKFORT Feb. 3: Maria Hull-Gecas, 35, of the 8800 block of Clare Avenue in Mokena, is charged with speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol at the intersection of S. 84th Avenue and W. Lincoln Highway in Frankfort. Feb. 2: A Homer Glen woman faces DUI charges after her car veered off the road while she was talking on the phone. Ingrid Katauskas, 43, of the 14000 block of S. Kickapoo Trail in Homer Glen, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, using a wireless phone in a construction zone and driving the wrong way on a divided highway. Frankfort police were dispatched at 3 a.m. Feb. 2 to the 11100 block of Lincoln Highway in response to reports of a van stuck in a construction site. Upon arrival, the officer …

If an officer asks for your license, he's probably not looking for a stare down—but that's exactly what one alleged drunken driver offered cops, this week in Southland drunken driving arrest reports.

  CHICAGO HEIGHTS Feb. 4: Damen L. Ingram, of the 23400 block of Western Avenue in Park Forest was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him near the intersection of Euclid and Main Street for turning without signaling, according to the report. When asked for his license and proof of insurance, Ingram silently stared at the officer, police said. Asked a second time, Ingram handed police his identification card, then went back to staring with a blank expression. The officer clarified that he needed Ingram's driver's license, not a state ID, and Ingram handed him his license. Bad parking and a car covered in eggs are two sure signs that something may be amiss behind the wheel, this week in Southland drunken driving arrest reports.

PALOS HEIGHTS Jan. 24: William B. Maas, 51, of the 12500 block of South 86th Avenue in Palos Park, was charged with DUI, driving without headlights and driving without insurance, according to a report. Maas was stopped after officers spotted his headlights off.  Jan. 19: Christopher J. Conley, 27, of the 500 block of West 37th Street in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol and speeding, according to a report, after police stopped Conley's car at about 10:56 p.m. near 12900 S. Man falls asleep during police questioning • DUI causes three-car accident • Man answers every police question with "south" • "I'm a man, I can complete (field sobriety) tests."

FRANKFORT Jan. 12: Richard H. Reinke, 58, of the 300 block of N. Maple Street in Frankfort, was issued citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol content above .08 at 7:59 p.m. Jan. 12 at the intersection of La Grange Road and Lincoln Highway. Driver 'knows he's under .08' • Driver speeds into McD's parking lot, flees on foot • Driver allegedly hits pedestrian, checks to see if he's alive, then flees—this week's roundup of drunken driving arrests in the Southland.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS  Jan. 10: Abraham Ortiz, 33, of the 200 block of W. 14th Street, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol after he disregarded a traffic light and almost hit a police cruiser near the intersection of 14th Street and East End Avenue, according to the report.  Police stopped Ortiz and noticed he had bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol, according to the report. Asked if he had been drinking, Ortiz told police he had three beers about an hour before driving, but later changed the number to four. Ortiz was also unable to provide a valid driver's license, police said. Ortiz took a Breathalyzer test and registered a blood-alcohol content level of .181, according to the report. He racked up …

EVERGREEN PARK JAN. 1: A Chicago man walked away with a list of charges after a ride through Evergreen Park in the early morning hours after New Year's Eve.  On Jan. 1 at 1:05 a.m. Christan Adams, 22, of Chicago, was seen disobeying a traffic light, police said. He then sped off driving through a train crossing against a signal as well, police said.  Adams and his green Chevy were traveling 85 mph in a 30 mph zone as he took off eastbound on 95th Street, police said. Chicago police became involved in the chase and Adams' car was eventually stopped in the 1800 block of 95th Street.  A blood draw was performed after he was taken into custody, police said.  Adams was charged with felony fleeing and alluding, driving under the influence, …

Doubtful. There was just a case in Will Co. where a person got 3 DUI's in about 9 months(at least 4 overall). He pled guilty and got only 1 year and $1700 fine.   more ›
