Frankfort Man Busted for Joliet Car Burglaries

Robert Sorensen forced police to chase him through several yards before they could arrest him on break-in charges.

Joliet police were forced to chase a burglary suspect through several yards before catching the Frankfort man and charging him with two counts of burglary to a motor vehicle. Police were called after Robert A. Sorensen, 26, 20184 Crystal Lake, was observed at about 11 p.m. Friday using a small flashlight to peek into car windows in the 700 block of Oneida, Joliet Lt. Bob Desiderio said. When police showed up, Sorensen took off on foot and damaged several fences trying to escape capture, Desiderio said. In addition to the car break-in counts, Sorensen was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, stemming from the prescription drugs he allegedly stole from one of two cars he's accused of burglarizing; possession of burglary …

Police, Sheriff Charge Teens in September Car Burglaries

Mokena police have charged one juvenile and the Will County Sheriff's Office two in connection with a recent rash of car burglaries.

Mokena Police have charged one teen and Will County Sheriff's officers two in a rash of car burglaries in and around Mokena in September. Between Sept. 21 and 24, eight burglaries were reported involving vehicles parked on Adare Avenue, Foxfire Lane and Waterford Lane in Mokena. Most of the break-ins took place the night of Sept. 23 and the early morning of Sept. 24. Although there was one car where someone tried to break the passenger side lock, all the burglarized cars were unlocked, Mokena Police said back in September. Rash of Car Burglaries Hits Mokena

Police have three suspects in the break-ins on Adare, Foxford and Waterford, but no charges yet.

Several Mokena residents reported car burglaries between Sept. 21 and Sept. 23, with most of the burglaries occurring in the overnight hours of Sept. 23 to Sept. 24. Eight burglaries were reported from vehicles parked in the 19500 block of Adare Avenue, 19500 block of Foxford Lane, the 9000 block of Adare Avenue, the 19300 block of Foxford Lane, and the 19400 block of Waterford Lane. In all cases involving stolen property, the burglarized vehicles were left unlocked, according to reports. Cash, GPS devices, Oakley sunglasses, an iPod and CDs were among the items stolen, according to the reports.
