Oak Lawn's Becky Bradshaw came up big for the Spartans at the Tinley Park tournament. And she also came up big in voting for Patch's MVP, Sept. 24-30. Bradshaw is now eligible for Patch Athlete of the Month honors.

Marian Catholic senior Sylvie Brick wasn't about to let a big wind spoil her final two days of high school golf. She tied for seventh in the Class AA state tournament. Her work led Marian Catholic to a sixth-place finish.
No matter how hard the wind huffed and puffed, Marian Catholic senior Sylvie Brick wasn't going to be blow away. Brick was a model of consistency during her run to a tie for seventh place in the Class AA girls state golf tournament Friday and Saturday at Hickory Point Golf Course in Forsyth. She shot rounds of 79 and 79 for a two-day, 36-hole total of 158. Brick led Marian Catholic to a sixth-place finish. Marian finished with a team total of 685. Bree Veazey (T23, 158), Nina Nicpon (T79, 182), Samantha Barlage (T79, 182), Alexandra Palmer (T88, 189) and Abby Brunner (T99, 226) also chipped in for the Spartans. Mt. Marian Catholic bunched three golfers in tight pack to nab a second-place finish in the Class AA Marist Sectional on Monday at Oak Oak Country Club. Lincoln-Way West freshman Alexis Biedrzycki shot 76 and was one of five Patch individual qualifiers.
Marian Catholic used the 1-2-3 punch of Sylvie Brick, Nina Nicpon and Bree Veazey to grab a second-place finish in the Class AA Marist Sectional on Monday at Old Oak Country Club. Brick shot 78, Nicpon 80 and Veazey 81 as Marian advanced to the Class AA state tournament Friday and Saturday at Hickory Point Golf Course in Forsyth. The Spartans finished with a team total of 334. Hinsdale Central (317) won the sectional championship. Lyons Township also advanced with a third-place score of 347.
