• Education: Lewis University College of Law (now Northern Illinois law school), 1978; Lewis University teaching certificate, 1971; bachelor's degree in business administration, Bradley University, 1970; Lincoln-Way High School, 1966.
• Occupation: Retired Will County Circuit Court Judge, now associated
  with Rathbun, Cservenyak, & Kozel Law Firm in Joliet
  and Mokena.
• Previous elected offices: Will County Circuit Court Judge 1996 (retained in 2002 and 2010).
• Related experience: Current Lincoln-Way District 210 board member. Chief Judgeof Will County dealing with a large budget running the
  court system, probation, juvenile detention and other
  affiliated offices with the court. Teacher in Mokena Junior
  High for six years.

Candidate Questions

What is the primary reason you are running for this office?

I have been a lifelong resident of the Lincoln-Way area and feel it is one of the finest high schools districts in the State. Each of the schools has become a centerpiece of the community where it is located because there is pride in the schools and excellent academic achievement by the students and the programs the students in which the students participate. I want to be a part to continue that atmosphere to grow.

What will be your single most important priority if you get elected?

I want that above atmosphere to continue to grow thru continued student participation and fiscal responsibility.

What sets you apart from the other candidates, if contested?

My wife and I are graduates of Lincoln-Way. My children all are graduates of Lincoln-Way and all of my grandchildren reside in the school district so I a vested interest. I realize from my career of being a teacher in Mokena, prosecutor in the Will County State’s Attorney office, and judge in Will County for 20 years that next to family, education and school participation is critical to developing excellent
students and citizens. As Chief Judge of Will County I handled a large budget and staff where I received awards for fiscal responsibility.

What's your favorite thing about the school district?

The four schools within the District are all the centerpiece of the community in which they are located. The entire community is made to feel a part of the school and this is done with the school being extremely fiscally responsible.

What is the biggest problem facing the school district?

The largest problem facing the district is the slow rate at which the state meets its obligation transferring funds back to the district. The State is almost a year behind leaving the district fill gaps because of the funding not being made by the state in a timely and responsible manner. Even though the district has managed the lack of financial responsibility by the state the lapse in time of payment continues to grow.
