The Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart are a convent of nuns that follow the teachings of St. Francis of Assisi. The sisters practice four areas of ministries: health care, education, parish and retreat ministries.
The order was established in 1866 in Germany. In 1873, Franciscan Sisters moved to Indiana, then to Joliet before finally settling in Frankfort. At present, the Franciscan Sisters have convents in Illinois, Indiana, California and the Amazon area of Brazil.
Along with the convent, the grounds also contain the Queen of Angels Chapel, which holds Mass throughout the week.
