Informational Meeting for Lincoln-Way CROP Hunger Walk

The kick-off informational meeting for the first-ever CROP Hunger Walk for the Lincoln-Way communities is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church of New Lenox, 339 W. Haven Ave. in New Lenox. To sign up as a donor or walker, visit the Lincoln-Way Crop Hunger Walk site

The CROP Hunger Walk is scheduled for Sept. 29. There will be a 1-mile and a 3-mile route. " CROP Hunger Walks are community-wide events sponsored by Church World Service and organized by local congregations or groups to raise funds to end hunger at home and around the world," according to the organization's website. Click here for more information on CROP Hunger Walk.

Lions Club Night for the Locals at Fall Fest

Before the official assembly of Frankfort Labor Day fest-goers from Aug. 30-Sept. 2, the Frankfort Lions Club makes use of the entertainment tent on Aug. 29 for its sweepstakes night and band. 

The featured band for the Lions Club is "Sundance.' They'll perform at the Entertainment Tent at Oak and Kansas Streets.  

Tickets for the Lions Club Night Sweepstakes tickets are $20 in advance and can be purchased from a Lions Club member. The price for a sweepstakes ticket is $25 at the door. The sweepstakes prizes are listed as $10,000 for 1st place, $1,000 for 2nd, $750 for 3rd, $500 for 4th, $$400 for 5th, $300 for 6th and $200 for 7th. 2013 Frankfort Fall Festival

The four-day long 2013 Frankfort Fall Festival is open throughout the Labor Day Weekend. From Friday, Aug. 30,-Monday, Sept. 2, downtown Frankfort is expecting to host more than 300,000 visitors from throughout the Southland and beyond. Nearly 300 select vendors will be set up to sell crafts, food and beverages, fine art, woodworking, clothing and much more.

Cubs Fans Invited to an Autograph Signing 

Phillips Chevrolet, 9700 W. Lincoln Highway in Frankfort, is hosting an autograph signing with Cubs first baseman, Anthony Rizzo.  He'll be signing autographs from 7-9 p.m. 

Saturday 

The Band 'Foreigner' Performs in New Lenox 


The final band in the annual Triple Play Concert Series, Foreigner, steps on stage about 9 p.m. Saturday at the New Lenox Village Commons, 1 Veterans Parkway. The 5,000-capacity concert is sold out. The park opens at 5:30 p.m.
