Governor Announces $2.6 Million in Will County Road Projects

Projects are part of Gov. Pat Quinn's "Illinois Jobs Now!" program.

Gov. Pat Quinn on Thursday announced $2.6 million worth of road projects in Will County, including resurfacing and improvements on Taylor Road in Romeoville.

The projects are part of Quinn's  $31 billion "Illinois Jobs Now!" capital program, estimated to support more than 439,000 jobs over six years, according to Quinn's office. 

“These construction projects will improve transportation safety and efficiency in Will County,” Quinn said in a press release. “Additionally, they will employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy, as well.”

Taylor Road will be resurfaced and curb, gutter and sidewalks will be replaced from west of Budler Road to Weber Road. The $627,140 project was awarded to Gallagher Asphalt Corporation of Thornton, the lowest of six bidders.

Lockport will receive two projects, according to a press release from Quinn's office. The intersection of Illinois Route 171 and 13th Street will be improved with paving, curb and gutter, storm sewer, sidewalk, signs, traffic signals and landscaping for $1,054,565 by P.T. Ferro Construction Co. of Joliet, the lowest of four bidders. Work on Green Garden Place from Oak to Nobes Avenue will be completed with sidewalk construction and accessible ramps for $38,122 by David Concrete Construction Company of Alsip, the lowest of eight bidders.     

The bridge carrying Illinois Route 53, or Baltimore Avenue, over the Kankakee River at Wilmington will be resurfaced and have joint repairs done for $553,560 by D. Construction, Inc. of Coal City, the lowest of two bidders.

Light emitting diode (LED) traffic signals will be replaced at 44 locations in Will County by H & H Electric Co. of Franklin Park, the lowest of two bidders at $399,443.
