It's no secret that summer is my favorite season. I can't get enough of the weather (the hotter the better) and that atmosphere that fun could break out around every corner. And I don't think I'm alone in feeling that way about the summer months, either.
That's why I want to document all the excitement and enjoyment the summer of 2012 can bring, especially in a place like Frankfort, with its mix of planned events (, activities on ) and places just made for summer (Old Plank Road Trail, the downtown, all of the parks). But I need some help from readers, and it could pay off for some of you.
Here's what you need to do for the weekly I Know What You Did This Summer weekly photo gallery:
- Photograph you, your friends and/or family enjoying the summer months in Frankfort. It can be out one Sunday evening at . Maybe it's while you're listening to one of the headlining musical acts at the . And yes, it can just be of your kids in the backyard, enjoying the Slip 'n Slide. The only requirements are that it's from this summer (Memorial Day to Labor Day of 2012) and that it shows you doing something in Frankfort. (Note to businesses and village organizations: You can submit your photos from events you organized or sponsored as well.)
- Post your photos in Frankfort Patch's Neighborhood Gallery (you can find it by clicking on the Pics and Clips tab on the homepage) by 5 p.m. Sunday each week to be considered in that week (if it's past 5 p.m., it will be entered for the following week). Make sure your name is in the caption along with what where you're at and what you're doing.
And that's it. Pretty simple, huh?
Every Monday, I will feature one to three winning photos, and those photographers will receive some Patch merchandise (either a T-shirt, sunglasses, water bottle, etc.). These photos also will be entered in an end-of-the-month contest, with the winning photo being printed out and framed for the owner. And those three photos will compete for the title of Favorite Frankfort Summer Photo, to be determined by Frankfort Patch readers.
Ultimately, I hope to receive a ton of photos in order to create a special summer photo gallery that captures the season in Frankfort and showcases the residents who were a part of it.
So get your digital and phone cameras ready, because the first deadline is 5 p.m. Sunday, June 17, with the first photos being featured Monday, June 18. Don't worry, though. I'll publish a reminder Friday, June 15, which also will highlight Frankfort weekend events that could be ideal settings for your photos.
I can't wait to see the photos you share. This is almost as exciting as summer itself. Almost.
