On Her Game: L-W North’s Selena Smith
Five questions with the Lincoln-Way North senior tennis player, who's excited about making the leap to doubles this fall.
Selena Smith has proved she can compete among the top singles tennis players in the state. She was the lone singles player from to advance to last season’s IHSA tennis finals at Prospect.
This year, she’s teaming up with Sam Jackson on the No. 1 doubles team for the Phoenix. Jackson has had a great deal of success, too, as she went to state as a doubles player with Sam Rochkus last October.
Although there were plenty of hot and humid days this past summer, Smith still spent more time on the courts than in the swimming pool. She hopes her dedication will pay off with a strong final season, and she’s considering the possibility of playing in college.
