Lincoln-Way East Softball Pulls Off Escape Act to Stay Perfect

Griffins edge Bolingbrook in Thursday thriller to improve to 10-0.

The softball team survived a wild 6-5 contest against Bolingbrook on Thursday to keep its undefeated record intact. The Griffins, who had to rally from a 4-1 deficit in the fifth, improved to 10-0 overall and 1-0 in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Lincoln-Way East Set for Stevie Challenge

Lincoln-Way East will participate—weather permitting—in Sunday’s inaugural Stevie Challenge at Standard Bank Stadium in Crestwood. The Griffins will face St. Laurence at 1 p.m.

The event is in honor of Stevie Bajenski, a former Mount Carmel student-athlete who died in 2009 as a result of complications from a heart procedure.

The Ace: Harper Shines for Lincoln-Way North

Lincoln-Way North’s No. 1 pitcher, Jake Harper, certainly pitched like an ace on Wednesday, shutting out Stagg on just three hits while fanning eight batters. He received all the offensive support he needed from Alex Eaton, who drove in all three runs in a 3-0 victory.

Lincoln-Way East Falls Shorts against No. 1 Sandburg

The Lincoln-Way East boys volleyball team faced No. 1-ranked Sandburg on Thursday. The Griffins weren’t able to pull off the upset, falling, 25-16, 25-18. According to Lincoln-Way East coach Kristopher Fiore, Sandburg is ranked No. 7 in the nation by ESPN, while the Griffins are No. 15.
