L-W East's Fuessel Impresses at High School Combine

If Griffin fans had any concerns about the team's quarterback position with Blake Winkler graduating, those worries should be allayed thanks to his replacement's performance at a recent high school combine.

junior Tommy Fuessel impressed college scouts at the 2012 Nike Football SPARQ Combine on April 7 in Lake Barrington by running a combine-best 4.46 40-yard-dash and ranking in the top five at the event, according to the ESPN HS website.

ESPN HS writer Brian Stumpf named Fuessel an honorable mention performer and wrote:

Fuessel doesn't have a lot of tape playing quarterback, as he was behind a senior starter last fall, but his athletic ability alone should lead to some interest (from colleges) under center or potentially at another skill position.
