L-W East Grad Goler a Finalist for Collegiate Softball Player of Year Award

Frankfort resident already holds a slew of Georgia hitting records, looks to cap career by helping Bulldogs win national title.

Following her senior season playing softball at Lincoln-Way East High School, Alisa Goler was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association all-region first team and was an All-America selection.

Now, four years later, the Frankfort resident is in line to add more individual awards to her resume as she looks to help her team win the collegiate national championship.

Goler, a left-handed hitting senior infielder at Georgia, recently was named a Top 25 Finalist for the USA Softball Player of the Year Award. The Bulldogs were 39-6 and ranked No. 3 in the nation heading into Wednesday night’s game against rival Georgia Southern.

Goler, who has started more than 200 games at third base, was hitting .382 with 15 homers and 45 RBIs. She had a slugging percentage of .827. The big numbers come at the end of her big career for the Bulldogs.

Already, Goler is the Georgia career record holder for most home runs (57) and most walks (170). She is tied for the career mark for most sacrifice flies (12). And she is fast-approaching the record for most career RBIs.

With her undergraduate work at Georgia completed, she started on a Master’s of Education degree in Recreation & Leisure Studies this spring. She will play professionally this summer for the Chicago Bandits.
