Girls Basketball: Griffins Ride McMahon to Regional Crown
Lincoln-Way East 65, Thornton Fractional South 41. Caitlin McMahon scores 25 points and pulls down nine rebounds to power Griffins.
The Hot Read: Lincoln-Way East solved Thornton Fractional South's defense early, building an 18-7 first-quarter lead en route to notching a 65-41 victory in the Class 4A Crete-Monee Regional title game on Thursday night. The Griffins extended their lead to 33-9 before the Rebels reached double-digits, and the score was 40-19 at the half. The Rebels made a run in the fourth quarter, putting up 22 points, but it was far too little too late.

What’s next: Lincoln-Way East will face Marist at 8:10 p.m. on Monday in play at the Lincoln-Way North Sectional. Marist defeated Sandburg 52-39.
