Gimme 5: Lincoln-Way North's Eggert is Ready for Swan Song
The Phoenix look to co-captain Alexa Eggert for leadership and contributions on defense in pursuit of another 20-win season.
Lincoln-Way North’s Alexa Eggert is in her fourth and final season playing with the Phoenix girls soccer team.
A co-captain of this year’s team, Eggert is also a part of the first group of student-athletes to be a member of the team since her freshman year.
“I told her and Mandy (Beniac) that I don’t know what I’m going to do next year without them,” Lincoln-Way North coach Mike Murphy said. “They’ve been the leaders here since Day 1.”

Eggert is a three-year starter on the defense. She was a Southwest Suburban Red all-conference selection last spring.
“She’s been instrumental to our success,” Murphy said. “She’s a skilled player, a hard-nosed player and a leader. Plus, she’s one of the nicest kids in the world.”

The Phoenix went 20-7-2 last year.
