For L-W North Boys Basketball, Morgan's Hot Start Seals Championship Bid

Daryle Morgan sank three straight 3-point baskets for the Phoenix to inject momentum that never left during a 53-47 victory over district rival Lincoln-Way Central on Wednesday in play at the Medieval Classic.

Basketball is a game of runs, and in Lincoln-Way North's 53-47 victory over Lincoln-Way Central on Wednesday night, Daryle Morgan was a one-man run in the first quarter. The Phoenix jumped out to a 13-2 lead and never looked back. All but one of those points came from the hands of Morgan.

The Phoenix's junior guard had an almost automatic touch in the early going and gave his team the start it needed. The hot shooting wasn't limited to Morgan's stunning first quarter, however. Trevon Lewis caught the hot hand in the second half, netting 13 of his 14 points.

"I just knew that we had to get off to a good start, because (in the past) we've had some bad ones. This time, it was something new," Morgan said.
