Soccer Teams to Raise Money for Breast Cancer Awareness

The girls’ soccer teams from Lincoln-Way North and Lincoln-Way West high schools are teaming up to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness.

The teams will host their 2nd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness game on May 12 at Lincoln-Way North High School, 19900 S. Harlem Ave., Frankfort.

“The LWN and LWW girls' soccer programs are working together to make a difference in their community and striving to become tomorrow's leaders,” said Lincoln-Way West soccer coach Jeff Theiss. “The student athletes wanted to do something that would benefit those they know and knew with the disease.”

“We wanted to give something back to the community,” added Lincoln-Way North soccer coach Michael Murphy. “The community has done so much for our district and our school that we wanted to raise money for a great cause and raise awareness of Breast Cancer.

“The best way to fight Breast Cancer is to have a plan that helps you detect the disease in its early stages,” he continued.

Students have invited local clubs to perform scrimmages between the sophomore game and varsity game on May 12. They also plan to hold raffles throughout the evening to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness.

The sophomore soccer game begins at 4:30 p.m. The varsity game will begin around 6:30 p.m.

“The night will serve as a reminder to the girls that when you work together, great things can be accomplished on and off the field,” said Theiss.
