Lincoln-Way East Hosts Black and Blue Scrimmage

Lincoln-Way East High School will kick off  the start of the 2011 football season with a Black and Blue scrimmage at the school Friday, Aug. 19.

Freshmen players will take the field at 5 p.m. followed by the sophomore team at 6 p.m. The school’s varsity football team will take the field at 7 p.m.

“The Ron Tomczak Black and Blue scrimmage is always an enjoyable evening for athletes, coaches and parents,” said Lincoln-Way East Athletic Director David Brost. “It’s a festive atmosphere with plenty of opportunities for picture taking, spirit wear purchases and refreshments. The social begins at 8 p.m.

“The scrimmage and concert provide opportunities for the community to get a preview for the upcoming fall,” stated Dr. Scott Tingley, the principal at Lincoln-Way East. “It also provides students a chance to play in front of a crowd and experience some nerves before it really counts.”

The Marching Griffins and Griffins’ football team will come together for the school’s first home football game on Sept. 2 when the Griffins take on Dunbar High School.
