Boys Tennis: L-W East Streak at 3 Years and Counting

Griffins have been getting it done non-stop since 2008.

The Lincoln-Way East boys tennis team put its streak of 31 consecutive Southwest Suburban Conference dual meet victories on the line against Homewood-Flossmoor on Wednesday. It wasn’t easy, but the Griffins survived 4-3.

The Griffins conference winning streak started on April 17, 2008.

No. 2. doubles team Adam Corazzi and Jacob Stoiber rallied from a 5-3 deficit in the third set to keep the winning streak alive.

Singles player Jeremy Dancu and the doubles teams of Steve Adamitus and Dan Cesario and Luke Greenfield and Mike Prokop also were winners for East.

Irace Leads Phoenix past Andrew

The Lincoln-Way North baseball team had no problem at all whatsoever with Andrew on Thursday, hammering the Thunderbolts, 15-2. Jack Irace went 4-for-4 to lead the offense while Jake Harper struck out seven in pitching the Phoenix to victory. Girls Track: Griffins Finish 4th in Southwest Suburban Blue

The Lincoln-Way East girls track and field team finished in fourth place during Thursday’s Southwest Suburban Blue girls conference meet. Homewood-Flossmoor (152) won the meet, followed by Bolingbrook (117), Lincoln-Way Central (85) and Lincoln-Way East (80).

Aaliyah Brown won the 100 dash (12.1) and 200 (24.34) to lead the Griffins. Nicole Nepote is also a conference champion, winning the 800 with a 2:21.58. The Griffins won the 4 x 100 relay with a 47.53.

Iversen leads L-W North Past L-W West and Bradley

Lincoln-Way North pitcher Kirsten Iversen held Lincoln-Way West and Bradley-Bourbannais in check on Wednesday and Thursday to help the Phoenix improve to 13-8 overall and 6-3 in the Southwest Suburban Red. The Phoenix cruised past Lincoln-Way West 11-2 and then beat Bradley-Bourbannais 6-2.

Badminton: L-W East and North Fall Short at Sandburg Sectional

The Lincoln-Way East and Lincoln-Way North badminton teams just came up short of advancing individuals to state during Thursday’s Sandburg sectional.
