Summit Hill Cheerleaders Finish Strong at State Tournaments

The junior high girls grabbed first- and second-place honors at the Illinois Elementary Schools Association and Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association championships.

The Summit Hill Junior High School cheerleading team earned four first place trophies and a second place finish at two state tournaments this season.

The team, which is made up of 21 seventh- and eighth-grade girls, faced off against 13 other teams at the Illinois Elementary Schools Association event and 10 teams at the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Associations championship in Springfield. The girls qualified for a spot at the ICCA state championships in Springfield by taking first place and scoring higher than an 80% at the Shepard High School invitational in December.
