The students learned about how recyclable and biodegradable items could be used to build man-made icebergs.

Submitted by Summit Hill School District 161:

The Summit Hill District 161 School Board recognized seventh graders in Mrs. Hartley’s science class on November 13.

The students presented various problem-based learning projects centered on saving polar bears due to global warming. The students learned about how recyclable and biodegradable items could be used to build man-made icebergs.

Each student designed and built an “iceberg” and needed to make it float while bearing at least 50 grams.

Summit Hill School District 161 serves the communities of Frankfort, Tinley Park, and Mokena.
