SHJH Takes 3rd Place at State Girls Track and Field Meet

Summit Hill Junior High School eighth-grader Kayla Hylton came in first place in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.

Eighth-grader Kayla Hylton earned first-place finishes in two events, and the girls track and field team took third place in the state meet in East Peoria, according to the Illinois Elementary School Association's website.

Hylton had a winning times of 12.80 in the 100-meter dash and 25.43 in the 200-meter dash. She was one of only two competitors who won multiple, individual events.

WATCH:  

Summit Hill earned 21.5 points in its third-place showing. Lincoln Middle School in East St. Louis came in first, followed by Rochester Middle School.
