Lincoln-Way East High School has a new principal, thanks to the hiring of Scott Tingley to take over for Brenda Jensen, who retired at the end of the school year, according to a Lincoln-Way High School District 210 release.
This marks a return to L-W East for Tingley, 39, of New Lenox, who, starting in 2007, served under Jensen as associate principal. Since 2009, Tingley has been the personnel director for SD210.
According to the release, Tingley said he wants to build on East's educational traditions and support faculty and students.
“We have great expectations in scholastics and extracurriculars,” he stated in the release. “I want that to remain.
“My job is to maintain and grow,” he added. “You’re not going to see any drastic changes.”
Along with his tenure at L-W East, Tingley began his teaching career at Lincoln-Way High School in 1994, teaching business and social science, as well as coaching boys basketball. In 2001, he was dean of students and a varsity basketball coach at Lemont High School. He returned to Lincoln-Way in 2004 as a dean and economics teacher.
Tingley grew up in Effingham and earned his undergraduate degree at Eastern Illinois University. He has a master’s degree in administration and supervision from Governors State University and a doctorate in administration and supervision from Loyola University.
