Lincoln-Way North Grad Grabs 3 College Scholarships

Bryanna Johnson will attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the fall.

Bryanna Mavis Johnson, a 2014 graduate of Lincoln-Way North High School, was awarded three competitive college scholarships this past spring.

Bryanna is the recipient of the AT&T Foundation Scholarship (UNCF); the Delta Sigma Theta Academic Scholarship from the Joliet Area/South Suburban Alumnae chapter; and the Community Network of AT&T Bob Cooper Scholarship.

Bryanna will be attending the University of Illinois-Champaign-Urbana in the fall of 2014. She will major in Human Development and Family Studies in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences.

“My plans are to pursue a career as a Child Life Specialist working with special needs children and helping hospitalized children and their families cope with their illnesses through play, preparation, education, and self-expression activities,” stated Bryanna.

At Lincoln-Way North Bryanna enjoyed participating in school activities including: poms, theatre, Link Crew, peer mediation, PLEDGE (the anti-bullying club), and was the vice-president of the Kiwanis Key Club.

She also was a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Pi Sigma Pi, and the French National Honor Society. 

In addition, Bryanna enjoyed volunteering with special needs children and adults during the year, she worked at Ivy League, a before and after school program for elementary school students.

Bryanna is the daughter of Walter and Constance Johnson of Tinley Park.
