Lincoln-Way North Class of 2013 Graduates with Spirit

More than 300 students graduated in commencement exercises at Lincoln-Way North High School.

The Lincoln-Way North Class of 2013 commencement exercises saw 315 students cross the stage Tuesday night at the athletic field at the home of the Phoenix.

The weather was perfect for an outdoor ceremony that drew crowds enough to pack the grandstands.

Special honors bestowed upon the Valedictorian Christian Gorski and Salutatorian Caitlin Broderick. Arvid Johnson, president of the Lincoln-Way High School Dist. 210 Board of Education, also took time to honor retiring Principal Mike Gardner and Associate Principal Lynn Merrick, both of whom stood for applause.

The applause grew loud when he asked Supt. Larry Wyllie and Deputy Supt. Thomas Eddy, both of whom are also retiring, to stand at their final graduation ceremony at Lincoln-Way High School Dist. 210.

Gorski offered a wrap-up of what it was like to be a "Phoenix Bird," s speech that drew laughter and cheers. Class President for all four years, Serena Shoff, recognized the many achievements by the Class of 2013.

After diplomas were awarded, the students sang the school song and ended it by tossing their caps in the air.
