Hickory Creek Girls Cross-Country Team Wins Sectionals, Advances to State
The girls cross-country team took first place last week at sectionals for the second year in a row. The team earned 20 points at the at Channahon meet.
Jake West of the boys team also qualified for state.

District Plans Veterans Day Events
Frankfort School District 157-C students will honor veterans in November with a series of special programs, and veterans from the community are invited to attend.

Here's a look at what's on tap:
Nov. 9: The Hickory Creek Middle School bands will host its annual Fall Band
Showcase and Fundraiser from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the school. All veterans will receive a boutonniere/corsage and a voucher for a free dessert if they
rsvp by Nov. 4 to Carrie Nagle at 815-464-8131. The concert is free.
Nov. 11: Hickory Creek seventh-graders will hold a special Veterans Day observance at 8 a.m. at the school. Veterans are welcome to
join the students as they listen to two guest speakers. Students will be raising money for Honor Flight Chicago, a nonprofit organization that brings
World War II veterans to Washington, D.C., for a day of honor. The students are trying to beat their donation of $5,400 last year.
The other schools of D157-C also will have special Veteran's Day activities. , will have an all-school sing at 9:15 a.m. with students inviting family members who are veterans. students will observe Veterans Day through a number of activities throughout the day.
