Frankfort Teachers Union President Hired as Grand Prairie Asst. Principal

Sharon Paver-Nepote was approved by the Frankfort School District 157-C board to become the new assistant principal at Grand Prairie Elementary School. Find out more about the longtime D157-C teacher who has a new role in the district.

Sharon Paver-Nepote, a longtime teacher and the president of the Frankfort Teachers' Association, will be the new assistant principal at for the upcoming school year.

The D157-C board approved Paver-Nepote's hiring at its Monday, July 9, meeting, and she will replace outgoing assistant principal Cathy McCarthy, who took an unpaid leave of absence in March. Paver-Neopte has been the interim assistant principal since then.

“Sharon's dedication to District 157-C is unwavering, whether it be as a teacher, FTA President, or community member," Grand Prairie Elementary School Principal Eileen Nelson stated in a district press release.

Paver-Nepote has been a teacher in the district since 2000, most recently teaching first grade at Grand Prairie. As president of the Frankfort Teachers’ Association, she has worked with the district officials to negotiate the past two contracts between teachers and D157-C.

“Her professionalism, relationship with the Grand Prairie staff and strong background in education is an excellent fit for the Assistant Principal position,” Supt. Tom Hurlburt said in a press release.

Here's a look at Paver-Nepote's educational background:

  • Taught in the before coming to D157-C.
  • Earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education at Governors State University. Has a master's degrees in educational leadership and curriculum and instruction from the University of St. Francis.
  • Currently working toward a doctorate in education.
  • Served as a transition teacher, response to intervention support teacher and certified gifted teacher.
