Frankfort Dist.157-C Adds Teaching Staff for the Fall

The Frankfort Dist. 157-C board authorized new hires for the 2013-2014 school year.

New teachers were added and hours were boosted for part-time teaching staff at the July 15 board meeting for Frankfort School Dist. 157-C.

The board approved the change in employment from .8 to 1.0 for teacher Diane Jeglinski as a math interventionist at Hickory Creek Middle School for the 2013-14 school year, and hired part-time teacher Joshua Purpura for physical education at Hickory Creek Middle School, according to public relations coordinator Nancy Neuzil,  

A fifth-grade teacher, Melissa Simek, will be at Chelsea Intermediate School, and speech pathologist Debra Santefort will see an increase in hours from .6 to .8 employment. Santefort serves at Grand Prairie Elementary School. Jenna Reidenga was hired to teach Spanish at Hickory Creek Middle School.

Buildings and grounds upgrades:

The board heard a report about an upgrade to the door access control devices at the main entrances of all three buildings. Also, expansion of upgrading of security camera systems district-wide is being completed. The district is in the process of updating the School District Emergency Plan. "It should be ready to go by the end of the summer," she noted.

Supt. Thomas Hurlburt reported that the State Board of Education sent a letter to the district about the FY14 proposed allocations for the Title I grant in the amount of $69,964 and the Title II grant in the amount of $19,782.  The grants will be used for staff professional development, he said. 

Neuzil said the board learned that the district received a rebate in the amount of $18,740.45 from using the P-card system of payment. Managed by the Illinois Association of School Board Officials, the purchasing card program uses a card similar to a credit or debit card that provides a way to use modern technology to enhance procurement, streamline payment procedures and generate rebates through its use.
