Dance Dance Contribution: Teachers Cut Footloose to Help D161 Students (VIDEO)

With a former 'American Idol' contestant as a judge, the Summit Hill Educational Foundation's Dancing With the Teachers pitted educators against each other to raise money.

After months of training, eight teachers from competed on the dance floor--or in this case, the gym floor of the 's field house--as part of the Dancing With the Teachers event Sunday afternoon.

The competition was held to help raise money for the Summit Hill Educational Foundation, a nonprofit group that helps teachers and students in the district by offering financial support in the classroom. 

The eight participating teachers, each representing schools in District 161, performed a routine with dancers from in Tinley Park in front of a panel of three judges, including Gina Glocksen, the ninth-place finisher from the sixth season of American Idol. The dancer with the highest score, which consisted of amount of online donations, as well as votes from the audience and judges, was the winner.
