D210 Board Honors Community Members, Students With Extra Effort Awards

Nine adults and four students were recognized last week by the district for their work in making the Lincoln-Way high schools better places.

A special kind of school spirit was recognized last week by the board as 13 students and adults were given the district's Extra Effort Awards.

In its 20th year, the awards honor parents, community members and students who go the "extra mile" to make the Lincoln-Way high schools better places, district Supt. Lawrence Wyllie said in a press release.

This year, nine adults and four students were presented with the award at a reception in front of about 80 people Thursday, June 28, at . 

The adults honored were:

  • Steve Hogan
  • Randy Baum
  • Alan Spaeth
  • John Teerling
  • Duane Davis
  • Mark and Gayle Giovanazzi

The students selected were:

  • Emily Rago, L-W Central
  • ,
  • Alexandra Horton,
  • Erica Crimmins, 

“The awards are given to citizens who have shown exemplary ‘school spirit.' ... The persons selected for this district-wide honor have truly put forth that 'extra effort' that makes Lincoln-Way High School District 210 the special school district that is it today,” Wyllie stated in the press release.
