D157-C Hires New Chelsea Intermediate Assistant Principal

The new assistant principal replaces Dan Prorok, who left for a role in another district.

Chelsea Intermediate has a new woman in charge. 

At the Frankfort School District 157-C Board of Education meeting held on July 21, the Board retained Doriane Woods as the new Assistant Principal at Chelsea Intermediate School effective August 1 at an annual salary of $60,000.  She will replace Dan Prorok who left to pursue an administrative position in another district.  Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Maura J. Zinni, said, “Doriane comes to us highly recommended for being an instructional leader with a focus on students. The administrative team looks forward to working with her.”

Woods earned a Master of Science degree in Educational Administration, served two years as a Principal Designee and has thirteen years of hands-on Intermediate School teaching experience.  She also holds a Master of Science degree in Reading and a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.  All of her degrees were earned at Illinois State University and she also holds Type 75 Administrative Certification.

For the past 13 years,  Woods has been employed at McLean County Unit 5 Fairview Elementary School in Normal, Illinois. Her leadership with building programs there included incorporating technology into the classroom, differentiated instruction and student behavioral and academic interventions.  She believes that relationships are key factors that support student achievement and that excellent administrators support and empower others.  She has experience with Readers’ Workshop which reinforces student achievement in reading.  She has also had successful experience with math intervention to improve student mathematics skills. Woods was endorsed by her supervisors for her collaboration skills and strong ethics, along with being described as bright, hard-working and dedicated to student and school success.   

“Doriane’s background demonstrates good communication, great collaboration skills and a focus on the student," Dr. Zinni said. "These characteristics are attributes of an excellent administrator. We believe that she will develop a strong connection with our Chelsea students, families and staff. We ask the community to join us in welcoming her and we are confident that she will make a great addition to our school district.”
