Walt's and Berkot's — two longtime Southland institutions — have their legions of fans. But the new kid on the block on LaGrange Road, Mariano's, is a recent crowd favorite. Jewel on LaGrange and U.S. 30 recently rearranged its shelves. You have Brookhaven Marketplace and Aldi, two stores as different as night and day. Dominick's is up for sale, the fate of its Frankfort store unknown. (And soon, a Meijer will open in Mokena — and it will also offer groceries.)
LaGrange Road is home to six grocery stores within a five-minute drive of each other.
