Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra to Present The Magical Music of Disney Multimedia Program

On Saturday, December 21, the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra will present its BMO Harris Bank Family Pops Special – The Magical Music of Disney. After conducting three sold-out performances in a row of this entertaining, multimedia production two years ago in Iceland, Maestro David Danzmayr will bring the magic of Disney to IPO audiences at the Lincoln-Way North Performing Arts Center.

“This Disney program ties together everything the IPO is about – championing American music, being accessible to our communities, and offering an innovative way for audiences to experience live symphonic music,” said Maestro Danzmayr.

Truly, whether you are a devotee or not, the magic of Disney music is that it appeals to all ages, uniting generations in a way only the silver screen can. From the 1964 classic “It’s a Small World” to hits from The Lion King, Aladdin, Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, the IPO will delight audience members young and old. As part of this nostalgic, entertaining, and fun-filled evening, audiences will see clips from favorite Disney movies old and new projected on a large screen above the stage while the Orchestra performs music from nearly a dozen movies.

As part of the Disney experience, the IPO is encouraging young Disney fans to dress up as their favorite Disney characters for the concert.  Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras for photo ops with a few of the beloved Disney princesses. The winners of the public “draw your favorite Disney character” art contest will also be revealed at the performance with prizes and special “second act seating” awarded.

“This is not just another orchestra concert, it’s a wonderful opportunity for families to spend an entertaining evening together and experience the magic and beauty of live symphonic music,” said Executive Director, Andrew Bradford.
