On Thursday, June 13, CD & ME brings the legendary group The Buckinghams to Frankfort with opening act and Chicago favorite, The Dancing Noodles. But if that's not enough retro to get you rocking, powerhouse radio personality Dick Biondi will also be in town to introduce both groups and visit with guests and sign autographs before the show.
In addition, 94.7 WLS-FM and Biondi are sponsoring a contest to win a VIP package for the Buckinghams concert on their website, 947wls.com. Note: The Buckinghams VIP ticket packages are currently sold out, but general admission and pre-party dinner tickets are still available at cdandme.com. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
"We are thrilled to have this level of talent perform at CD & ME," said owner Dean Vaundry. "It's going to be a great show and really sets the bar high for our 10th anniversary summer series."
The Buckinghams leapt to fame in the 1960s with their #1 hit "Kind of a Drag," which was followed by seven national chart hits, 15 singles and eight acclaimed albums. When Billboard Magazine named them "The Most Listened to Band in America," The Buckinghams became national favorites on The Ed Sullivan Show, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, American Bandstand and more. While group members eventually went their separate ways, band mates Carl Giammarese and Nick Fortuna reunited in 1980 and eventually recruited new sidemen to play on the Happy Together tour, which was one of the top 10 grossing tours in 1985. Since then The Buckinghams have continued to engage audiences in their high energy, crowd-pleasing shows.
