Village Board Approves Alcohol Sales for Durbin's Pizza

Mayor also praises workers and residents for their efforts during the recent blizzard.

The Village Board approved two projects at its Monday meeting as part of its consent agenda. Here are the details:

The request: Durbin's Pizza, 14 Elwood St., in the Grainery shopping center asked for a permit to sell alcohol during operation.

What it means: The request would allow to Durbin's to serve beer and wine during its business hours of 3-11 p.m. daily. The permit also would allow the pizza place to serve hard liquor, but owner Randy Averilla said that would only happen during special occasions. , the Frankfort Plan Commission stipulated that Durbin's cannot expand its bar area or add additional video games and TVs in the restaurant.

The request: Quantum Building & Design Inc. asked to consolidate two lots it's developing for single-family homes on Holland Harbor Drive in the Lighthouse Point subdivision into one and create a 10-foot public utility and drainage easement for the lots.

What it means: By consolidating the lots, Quantum wants to build one large single-family home instead of two it had originally contracted for. The easement is part of that change in plans. The request was unanimously recommended by the Plan Commission at its last meeting.
