Trustees Grant Chipotle New Liquor License

After creating a new liquor classification last month, the Frankfort Village Board granted its first license to , 11129 W. Lincoln Hwy.

The new E2 license, , applies to restaurants and limits them to only selling beer, wine and margaritas. 

The board passed the measure unanimously (trustees Kevin Egan and Todd Morgan were absent from the meeting).

Appropriation Ordinance Includes Bond Pay Off

The request: Adopting the 2011-12 fiscal year appropriation ordinance

What it means: The ordinance sets the maximum limit the village can spend during the budget year, which started May 1. This year's cap is about $42.5 million, which includes money that has been set aside to pay off bonds from 2002. 

Any comments from the board or public? Trustee Cindy Heath said paying the bonds off now means village taxpayers won't be footing the bill over the next four years for the interest on the 2002 bonds. Once the 2002 bonds were paid off, the only debt the village has is for a 1996 water and sewer bond issue that could not be paid off early.

How did it pass? Unanimously.

Route 30 Update

Frankfort officials have been working with the state to try to get the speed limit on U.S. Route 30 reduced to 35 m.ph. this summer while construction crews work on widening the thoroughfare, said Village Administrator Jerry Ducay.
