Rush Kicked Off House Floor For Wearing Hoodie in Support of Trayvon Martin

U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush of the 1st Congressional District wore the hooded sweatshirt to protest the killing of Trayvon Martin.

Rep. Bobby Rush was asked to leave the House floor Wednesday morning after he donned a gray hoodie and sunglasses to protest the killing of Florida teen Trayvon Martin.

Rush was addressing the issue Wednesday morning when he took off his suit jacket, as shown in the clip above.

"Just because someone wears a hoodie, does not make them a hoodlum," Rush said.

Presiding officer Gregg Harper (R-Miss.) cut off Rush several times and asked the sergeant at arms to enforce the House's chamber dress code, The Huffington Post reports. Rush then left the chamber.

Trayvon Martin, 17, was shot and killed while walking unarmed through a Sanford, Fla. neighborhood on Feb. 26. His shooter, George Zimmerman, says he shot Maritn in self-defense. Zimmerman had called police to report a suspicious person in the neighborhood and left his car to follow the teen.

Zimmerman alleges Martin punched him in the face as he was returning to his car, the Orlando Sentinel reports. The death has sparked protests across the country in recent weeks.

Rush represents the 1st Congressional District which includes portions of Chicago and stretches further south and west across the suburbs.

Why does the Media keep posting old outdated pictures of Trayvon when he was about 12 years old? When in fact Trayvon was a couple months shy of his 18th birthday and was 6'2"

This no good piece of garbage is exactly that. Rush has always been a racist advocate. If membership in the new black panthers were feasible, Rush would be the first in line. He has only peddled his racism in a different mode. He was elected as a U.S.Representative because of the constituency of blacks residing in his district. They did not care of any issues he may or may not have aspired to. All that was needed was that he be of black linage. He was never an educated person. Did not even hold a high-school diploma. But he is black, and that is all that mattered. His racist stripes were shown when he pulled this fiasco. A tiger never changes it's stripes. He is still a racist at heart. He was a black panther then, served time in prison, and still a racist. But, does his constituency care? Not at all. Why? Because he is black, that's why. Semper Fi1
