Frankfort Park is Renamed to Honor Retiring Commissioner

Frankfort Park District Commissioner Paul Shaffer retires after 28 years of service.

Paul Shaffer, Frankfort Park District Commissioner, will retire effective May 2013 after 28 years of service. But he won't be forgotten.

Tanglewood Park, located at Colorado Ave and Tanglewood Lane, was dedicated in an April 5 ceremony to Shaffer. The parcel was renamed Shaffer Park.

Park District staff agree, "He has been an outstanding Park Commissioner for 28 years."

In his seven terms of service he has served in all capacities on the Park Board; president, vice president, treasurer and as secretary. Commissioner Shaffer also served as a Lincoln-Way Special Recreation Association Board member for 18 years. His dedication, knowledge and professionalism have been outstanding.
