Moustis, Izzo Take County Board District 2 Race

The two Republican incumbents were each elected to serve another four years on the board.

Incumbents Jim Moustis (R) and Dave Izzo (R) maintained their positions as Will County Board members representing District 2 in Tuesday’s election.

With all 25 district precincts reporting, Moustis received 10,444 votes, while Izzo received 9,655 votes. Mario P. Carlasare (D) received 7,126 votes.

District 2 includes Frankfort, Green Garden, Manhattan and portions of Tinley Park. It is now one of 13 districts countywide, after redistricting earlier in the year increased the number of Will County districts from nine.

Moustis and Izzo will each serve a four-year term on the board.

Moustis has served as board chairman since 1998 and has been a board member since 1993. He is also the supervisor of Frankfort Township and has lived in Frankfort for more than 30 years.

"I will work together with all parties to get a functioning county board," said Moustis.

Izzo was appointed to the board when former board member Laurie Smith retired last November. He is a Tinley Park resident, as well as an attorney and a former Lincoln-Way School District 210 board member. He has lived in Will County for more than 10 years.

"It's always much better to have the people of the district vote you in," said Izzo. "I look forward to serving them."

Carlasare, of Frankfort, is the director of marketing and education outreach for the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra. Carlasare was returned to the ballot in September by a judge, after being removed earlier in the year.

"I just want to congratulate Jim Moustis and Dave Izzo," said Carlasare. "I look forward to working with Jim and Dave to bring fiscal responsibility and open government to the board."
